The pattern on this infinity scarf celebrates a small masterpiece of Egyptian woodcarving (ca. 1981–1975 B.C.) in The Met collection. Discovered in the tomb of the king’s chief steward, Meketre, this statue of a richly adorned woman carries a basket of food on her head, personifying an estate that would have provided sustenance for Meketre’s spirit in perpetuity. Her dress’s feather pattern is often found in representations of goddesses.
