The feathery “saz” leaves on this infinity scarf come from a Turkish tile (ca. 1545–55) crafted in the renowned Iznik kilns—illustrious workshops that produced magnificent ceramic wares for the Ottoman court—and now in the Museum’s Islamic art collection. The saz leaf was a popular design in Ottoman decoration, often accompanied by stylized flowers.
